Cast Iron Care
After cooking attempt to remove all food and grease with a paper towel
For hard stuck-on food, you can use a hard plastic scraper or sponge
You can use water as necessary, Be aware that you will need to completely dry after cleaning
If you still can’t get debris off, you may use a small amount of soap.
Do not use any soap that contains LYE(this is where the wise tale of no soap came from. Back in the day when cast iron what the primary cooking implement for most homes, almost all soap contained LYE to help dissolve dirt and grease because it eats away at carbon-based items)
Do not use especially acidic liquid soaps i.e Dawn platinum or dawn power wash.
Dawn original is safe.
Once the pan is clean to your liking you should towel dry.
If you plan to use the pan soon you can apply a light coat of oil to the pan to protect it until use.
